The Orchards of Mladost

WALK AND CONVERSATION WITH ANDREA POPYORDANOVA
15 май, 12:00–14:00

The Orchands of Mladost investigates why there are fruit trees in a residential area where they haven’t been planned to be planted by the official urban planners and landscape architects of the city. Though considered as inappropriate/unsuitable for the urban space, these trees have an interesting bond with the citizens. The Orchands of Mladost, part of a larger reseach, is an attempt to learn more about the history of the place and the processes that have shaped it by conversations with the inhabitants, walks, cartography and study of the plant species and their fruits throughout the year. Does connection between the people and the fruit trees exist and does someone take care of the plants?

The walk in the Mladost neighborhood will last around two hours, following a pre-planned route. It will include stories about several trees and the people who care for them, as well as a conversation about this type of tree in the urban environment. Starting April 16, materials related to the research will be available at Swimming Pool, which Andrea Popjordanova continues to update over time.

„Овощните градини на Младост“, част от по-мащабно проучване, посветено на овощните градини в града, е опит да се разбере повече за историята на мястото и процесите, които са го оформили, чрез разговори с жители на квартала, разходки, картографиране и изучаване на растителни видове и плодовете им в продължение на една година. Съществува ли връзка между хората и плодните дървета и има ли грижа за тях?
