Measured Drawings

Exhibition by slava savova and discussion

26 MAY 2022, 18:00–20:00

Measured drawings is a survey into the vibrant processes, actors and unsolicited objects that simultaneously interact with and co-constitute heritage sites. The project’s main tool is the architectural drawing – a key component of the heritage documentation process, usually portraying monuments as isolated objects. Measured drawings, deploying the same recording technology, reverses the focus of the architectural survey in a discrete attempt to eject the monuments from their perceived status of free-standing volumes.

Slava Savova’s research presentation will be followed by a discussion featuring Ivo Strahilov—a cultural theorist and researcher at the Department of History and Theory of Culture at Sofia University.

Read the conversation at the Journal for Social Vision.

Slava Savova is an independent researcher based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is currently focused on two research projects surveying the fate of the balneosanatorium infrastructures in Southeast Bulgaria – Palaces of Health and the imprint of the extractive industries upon nature and communities in Southwest Bulgaria – Treasures Underground.
