The zine documents a series of artistic interventions in abandoned buildings across Sofia, rethinking these spaces beyond their usual perception as empty, neglected, or unusable. Instead of treating them as voids, the artists approach them as sites with their own presence—detached from function, yet open to interpretation.

The publication traces these encounters through images and fragments, unfolding what the artists describe as a space of “non-being”—neither for living, nor for entering, nor for play, nor for rest. Stripped of infrastructure and designation, these structures resist easy reading; rather than offering a narrative, the zine invites a slower process of looking and trying to make sense of what remains.

Elena Chergilanova is a graphic designer and visual artist from Sofia. She works mainly with photography, video and artist books. Her artistic practice deals with themes of space and place and the transience of experience.

Yves-Christian Angelov is a teacher and experimental artist from Sofia. He is the founder of the noise music/field recording project “there is no one” and part of the dadaist duo “Small Ruchey”, with which he has been putting on concerts and performances since 2017.
